The first families
from China migrate to Monterey and settle in Point Lobos.

1875:

The Chinese
Left Pt Lobos and the Quock Mui family moves to the village
at Pescader Point, on what is now the prestigious Pebble
Beach Golf Course. |
1882:

The Chinese
Exclusion Act was passed. The Pacific Improvement Co. canceled
the lease with the Chinese. Quock Mui moved with her family
to the village at Point Alones. The village is near what
is now the Monterey Bay Aquarium. |
1906:
|
The entire
village of Point Alones was burnt down within an hour. The
Chinese had a standoff for over a year and gain the support
of the community. |
| 1907:

They negotiate
the move to Macabee Beach. |
1917:
|
Fishing came
to a sudden halt during World War I. Fishing boats were
paid for by the government to bring supplies to the sailors.

1919:
|
The effects
of the Chinese Exclusion Act were apparent in the thinning
of the Chinese population. Most of the Chinese Community
moved further inland or to San Francisco where fishing was
move prevalent. |
